What to Expect from Your First Pregnancy Ultrasound
If this is your first pregnancy, you might feel unsure about what’s involved in a pregnancy ultrasound. Don’t worry, we’re here to make the experience smooth and informative.
At your first appointment, please arrive 10 minutes early to complete the necessary paperwork. Depending on the type of scan (such as a dating scan or viability scan), you may be asked to drink water before the scan. A trained sonographer will perform the scan using safe, non-invasive technology to capture images of your developing baby. The process usually takes 15 to 30 minutes and is completely pain-free.

Dating Scan
Usually performed around 6–12 weeks, this scan determines how far along you are, confirms the number of babies, and calculates your estimated due date. Our dating scan services are accurate and bulk-billed where eligible.
3D and 4D Ultrasound
We offer advanced 3D and 4D ultrasound imaging to provide detailed, real-time views of your baby’s development, ideal for pregnancy bonding and enhanced diagnostic accuracy. These cutting-edge scans offer a clearer picture of fetal movements and facial features, performed by our experienced sonographers in a caring and professional environment.
Nuchal Scan (First Trimester Screening)
Conducted between 11 and 13 weeks, a nuchal scan assesses the risk of chromosomal conditions such as Down syndrome. It involves measuring the fluid at the back of the baby’s neck and is usually combined with a blood test.
Gender Scan
If you wish to know your baby’s sex, we offer a safe and accurate gender scan from as early as 15 weeks. While this is optional, many expectant parents enjoy the bonding experience of learning this early.
Viability Scan
A viability scan is often the first reassurance for many parents. It confirms the presence of a heartbeat and checks early development. This scan is often combined with the dating scan in early pregnancy.
Morphology Scan
Also known as the 20-week scan, the morphology scan checks your baby’s anatomy and development. It provides a detailed look at the heart, spine, limbs, organs, and placenta.
